Angry reactions have trailed the Taliban’s demand for the UK to give them billions of pounds in reparations after overthrowing the democratically elected government of Afghanistan.
Reacting to a story by Express UK, many Britons blamed former Prime Minister Tony Blair, insisting that the Taliban should “Send the bill to Blair.”
One Burstone274 said: “He put us into Afghanistan at the request of the recognised government at that time. Not the enemy of that government.”

“This would be like the Germans demanding reparations for the damage they did to Belgium fighting the French and English in two World Wars!”
Another reaction added that while the Taliban was on a “legal kick”, “why not return all the equipment you stole from the US and UK forces. It isn’t your property, is it?”
Noor Mohommad Mutawakel, who works with the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture, in an interview with Daily Mirror said: “Britain is ready to pay us war reparations.
“We welcome that. Other countries involved in the war must also be prepared to pay.”
However, a Whitehall source, speaking with Daily Mail said that while “we don’t know what they’re going to ask for yet”, “whether we pay [reparations] or not is a different matter”.
Colonel Richard Kemp, a former infantry battalion commanding officer in Afghanistan, described the Taliban’s demand as an outrageous demand from a terrorist group.
“It is an outrage for the terrorist group that took over the country to demand reparations from countries that fought in Afghanistan to support the legitimate government,” Kemp said.
“The British Government should not even contemplate paying a penny to these bloodthirsty killers.
“This will be the first of many demands from a regime capable of murdering, torturing and subjugating the population.”
More angry reactions from the public quarters vehemently kicked against paying any reparations to the Taliban.

Antieu said: “Not one penny should be paid to the Taliban.
“It would be a gross insult to all who fought and died defending that country. They want to rule Afghanistan, let them fund it then.”
While the bulk of the blame fell on former PM, Tony Blair, Mandy Jones believes that the UK was “taken into the situation by Blair when we shouldn’t of, but [we] definitely don’t owe them any money, particularly as it would be propping up terrorists”.
