According to respected football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United’s higher ups are yet to consider the pressing the panic button, and believe that Solksjaer, who signed a contract extension through 2024 can still right the ship and improve performances and results in the near future.
However, El Chiringuito, a Spanish newspaper says Manchester United may be exploring other possibilities and have mooted Zinedine Zidane as a possible replacement on the recommendation of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The newspaper said that Zidane has spoken with Manchester United’s board but would wish to stay on the sidelines and replace Didier Deschamps as Les Bleus manager when the opportunity presents itself.
The report also said that the former Real Madrid manager has received offers from PSG and Newcastle but has remained unbending in his quest to wait until he can manage the French national side.
Manchester United begin a tough run of fixtures which will see them play Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea in the next few weeks with two Champions League games against Atalanta interspersed in the mix.
Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand believes Solksjaer will at least be granted the whole season to prove his credentials to the club’s hierarchy.
