New Delhi: On the ban on single-use plastics, Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav clarified the situation and announced that the ban would take effect from July 1. The government has given enough time to businessmen and the general public to prepare for the ban on single use plastic (SUP) items and expects everyone’s cooperation in this. SUP items include earbuds, plastic sticks for balloons, flags, candy sticks, ice cream sticks, polystyrene (thermocol), plates, cups, glasses, glasses, forks, spoons, knives, straw, tray wrapping or packaging film, invitation cards. An instruction was issued under the Environmental Protection Act to phase out 18 single use plastic items. From July 1, the use of these 15 single-use plastic items will be banned. Violation of this will attract disciplinary action.
