Gandhinagar: Tkhl Adhikari Rajkumar has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Gujarat State. He will assume the post after January 31. It may be noted that the present Chief Secretary of the state, Pankaj Kumar, is going to retire on January 31. The post of Chief Secretary was being tussled for a long time. According to the information received, the cabinet meeting discussed four names for the state police chief and the state administrative chief. These names were then sent to Delhi. Apart from Rajkumar, the names of S Aparna, Vipul Mitra and Mukesh Puri were also discussed. But the name of Rajkumar, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home and Industries Department, was in the first row as the Chief Secretary. Finally the prince’s name has been stamped. It may be noted that besides the state chief secretary Pankajkumar, state police chief Ashish Bhatia is also retiring in January 2023. The possibility of giving more extension to both the officers as administrative and police chief was negligible. Discussions were going on for a long time about who should be chosen for both the posts. Atul Karwal is seen as a possibility as DGP of the state.
