Ahmedabad: On the eve of the Republic Day, the names of the dignitaries to be honored with the Padma Shri were announced. Seven dignitaries including Bhajanik Hemant Chauhan of Rajkot will be honored with the Padma Shri award. Apart from this, architect Balakrishna Doshi will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
Under this, Hemant Chauhan, who lives in Rajkot and is a well-known bhajan, was also announced as Padma Shri. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Government of India very much. I have been informed by the government that I have been selected for the Padma Shri. I have been singing bhajans for the last 42 years. I sing the words of saints. I also worship God. Then I feel very happy to know that I will get Padmashri.
Hemant Chauhan was born in 1955 in Kundani village of Rajkot district of Gujarat. His special contribution is in the field of Bhajan. He has lent his voice in several Gujarati Bhajan-Santwani albums. Apart from this, he has also given his voice in several albums of Gujarati Garba. His most important feature is to sing with absolutely clear pronunciation so that the listener can hear and understand the words.
Apart from this, eight other people from Gujarat will get Padma Award, Padma Vibhushan including Balakrishna Doshi Architect – Padma Shri, Hemant Chauhan Art, Bhanubhai Chaitara Art, Mahipat Kavi Art, Ariz Khambhat Art, Hirabai Lobby Art, Dr. Mahendra Pal Art, Pareshbhai Rathwa received honors in the field of art.
