Lucknow: After the name change of many cities, now there is a demand to change the name of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Pratapgarh BJP MP Sangam Lal Gupta wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in this regard. MP Sangam Lal said in his letter that why keep the name of Mughal period now? Lucknow can also be named Lakhanpuri. If the name of Mughal Garden is changed, the name of Lucknow can also be changed. The MP from Pratapgarh wrote that Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, according to local belief was gifted to Lakshmana by Lord Rama as Ayodhya Naresh in the Treta Yuga and hence named as Lakhanpur and Lakshmanpur. But over time Nawab Asfudaula of the 18th century changed its name to Lucknow. Sangam Lal Gupta has demanded that Lucknow, a symbol of slavery and luxury, should be renamed as Lakhanpur or Laxmanpur as the symbol of India’s Great Cultural Heritage Pride Committee and its symbol when the country has entered Amrit Kalkhand.
