Junagadh: The Mahashivratri fair started with the auspicious hoisting of the flag of Bhavnath Mahadev in Junagadh’s Bhavnath Mahadev Temple and along with this the Annakshetra, the fields became bustling. Monks lit the tunes. Triveni Sangam of worship, food and devotion will be held in the fair for four days. On the auspicious day of Maha Vad Nom, Dhvajaji was duly worshiped at the temple of Bhavnath Mahadev at the foothills of Giri. The first black flag was hoisted on Bhairavadada followed by the hoisting of the flag on the peak of Bhavnath Mahadev temple in the presence of sadhu saints, officials, office bearers of the municipality with the sound of Har Har Mahadev. Along with this, the four-day Mahashivratri fair began. Bhavnath foothills was covered with a unique atmosphere with the smoke of Dhuna. As soon as the fair began, people thronged to the Bhavnath foothills to enjoy the fair and by nightfall the ashrams and sanctuaries were filled with chants and bhajans and the Bhavnath area resounded with the sound of Harhar Mahadev and Bambam Bhole. Free food is provided to the visitors at many places in the fair. Tea and water are also served. In particular, special vigilance has been taken for the safety of the pilgrims to prevent any chaos from spreading even from the local authorities. And a tight police presence has been arranged.
