Ahmedabad: Out of 5.4 crore people who took both the Kovid-19 vaccines in Gujarat, only 1.96 crore people have taken the third i.e. booster dose which is 36 percent. However, the national average percentage of those taking booster doses is only 24 percent and Gujarat ranks fifth among the states taking the highest booster doses in the country, according to the data presented in the Lok Sabha. Figures presented in the Lok Sabha revealed that Telangana tops the list of states taking booster doses with 43 per cent. After that Odisha is second with 40 percent, Andhra Pradesh 39 percent, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh are fourth with 37 percent. After Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh 27%, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh 24% and Bihar 23% took booster dose. The sources of the state health department said that in the month of last December, when the number of corona cases increased, people took booster doses, but since the number of cases was negligible, people did not take booster doses. People especially in urban areas were reluctant to take booster dose, but people in rural areas took booster dose relatively more because of concern for their health.
