Ahmedabad: Corona virus is raising its head again in India. According to data from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, out of 5,915 active Covid cases reported in India, 70 percent of the cases have been reported in these four states of Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka. All four states have more than 500 active cases. According to the data, Gujarat has recorded the fastest increase in active cases. Gujarat has 213 active cases which increased to 655 after a week, showing an increase of 207 percent. Meanwhile, the weekly increase in the number of cases in Maharashtra was 139 percent, Karnataka 19 percent and Kerala 15 percent. According to the information received, the number of daily reported cases in Gujarat has doubled in three days, from 90 on March 15 to 179 on March 18. While 48 cases were reported on March 12, 179 cases were reported on March 18. Former Director of AIMS-Delhi Dr. Randeep Guleria said the virus undergoes mutation and antigenic drift. It mutates less and is more likely to be contagious. Sometimes it doesn’t cause much harm, but like any other illness we have to live with it. Fewer patients require intensive care admission and oxygen support.
