Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government had entered into a strategic partnership MoU with Google to accelerate the Digital India programme. In the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel in Gandhinagar, an important strategic partnership MoU was signed between Google, a world renowned company in the Internet sector, and the Government of Gujarat. State Science Technology Department Secretary Vijay Nehra and Google Vice President and Country Head Sanjay Gupta signed the MoU and exchanged views.
Under this initiative, Google and the state government will jointly equip rural women, school-going children and young entrepreneurs of Gujarat for socio-economic transformation through the use of information technology, including proper use of the Internet.
Approximately fifty thousand citizens will be trained every year. Apart from this, training sessions will be organized to increase the digital literacy among rural women and accelerate the skill development of students and youth.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel assured the full support of the state government to Google to associate the name of Google with Gujarat and to make Gujarat, the growth engine of the country, more global.
