Uttar Pradesh: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has made major changes in the syllabus of UP Board and CBSE Board for the academic session 2023-24. Students are no longer taught about Mughal history in schools. The Uttar Pradesh government has removed the chapters on rulers and Mughal courts from the history book ‘Some Topics in Indian History II’. Apart from this, chapters on rise of Islam, clash of civilizations, industrial revolution, beginning of time have been removed from the 11th standard textbook.
While the lesson of American dominance and Cold War has been removed from the civics textbook. This decision will be implemented from the academic session 2023-24. On these steps, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak said, “Our Sanskrit is our cultural heritage. We want to introduce our new generation to heritage. Earlier people were deprived of our culture. People were not told. We will tell people about real culture.
Under topics removed from class 12 history books, students included ‘Akbarnama’ and ‘Badshahnama’. Apart from this, the civics book has also been changed. A chapter on the rise of mass movements and the period of one-party dominance has also been changed from a book on politics in independent India.
Sambhal SP MLA and former Secondary Education Minister Nawab Iqbal Mahmood has reacted to the decision taken by Uttar Pradesh and CBSE Board to remove the history of Mughal court from the syllabus of the academic session 2023-24 and to remove chapters like rise of Islam, clash between civilizations and industrial revolution from the 11th books. The SP MLA said that the BJP government is working to do whatever it can against the Muslims, but Mughal rule will not go away just by removing it from Uttar Pradesh. He said that this history is strong not only in India but all over the world, the emperors of the Mughal Sultanate took India on the path of progress.
Regarding the removal of chapters on the rise of Islam and cultural clash from class 11 textbooks, the SP MLA said, “We did not expect good from them.” Muslims have started to distance themselves from him because he is only working for his vote and his government. The SP MLA said that the history of Taj Mahal, Red Fort and Qutub Minar is not only limited to India but it is all over the world. Because when tourists from all over the world come to India, they ask about Taj Mahal, Red Fort and Agra and this world will explain them to them.
