Gilgit: On the one hand, there is a shortage of food in Pakistan and on the other hand, the population is growing exponentially. Which is likely to make Pakistan worse in the coming years. In the last five years, 3.3 crore people have been added to the population of Pakistan. According to the latest figures, the total population of Pakistan has reached 24.6 crores. A survey was conducted to get information about the population and 59 lakh people were included in it. Verification is still pending in 66 districts of different provinces of Pakistan, but according to one estimate, the total population of Pakistan has increased by four crores. At the time of 2017 census, the population of Pakistan was estimated at 20.7 crore. Gilgit and Baltistan and PoK have also been asked to provide their figures at the earliest. In view of the elections, the census was ordered to be completed by May 15. However, verification of eggs is pending in 66 districts. As today is the last day, the rest of the figures are likely to be submitted. Pakistan’s population growth rate was 1.3 percent in 2017 and has increased to 1.9 percent in 2023. Thus the population rate in Pakistan is increasing instead of decreasing. Currently, Punjab is the largest province in Pakistan with a population of 12.5 crore. It is followed by Sindh with a population of 5.6 crore, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a population of 3.9 crore, Balochistan with a population of 2.08 crore and Islamabad with a population of 2.3 crore.
