A former employee of Kanye West has made shocking revelations about the rapper’s unusual living conditions and alleged labour violations.
The employee claims that Kanye requested to reside in unliveable conditions inside his unfinished home, wanting to shower outside, defecate into a hole in the floor, and live with no electricity in an effort to live “off the grid” and “hide from the government”.
The former employee, Tony Saxon, has filed a lawsuit against Kanye West, accusing him of multiple labour code violations, disability discrimination, unpaid wages, and wrongful retaliatory termination.
According to Tony, he started working for the rapper as a full-time security and live-in caretaker around September 2021. However, he claims that Kanye utilized him for construction-related tasks and made bizarre demands.
In an interview with The Mirror, Tony revealed some of the shocking demands made by Kanye. He said, “The man wanted to poop into a hole in the floor…He wanted to basically live in what at the beginning I thought was supposed to be just an art project.”
Tony initially believed that Kanye wanted an open-concept living space for occasional visits or as an art piece.
As Tony continued working on the project, it became clear that Kanye wanted to live in the unfinished house. Tony alleged, “I was pretty sure this was just supposed to be something for an art piece or to go there from time to time and whatever.
“As I moved along in the project and he started saying ‘No, I want to live here. I think I’m gonna live here’ and I was living there. It’s pretty absurd to think that anybody…I mean the man wanted a shower outside, no plumbing, pooping into a hole in the floor.”
Kanye’s requests became increasingly bizarre as Tony claimed that the rapper asked him to remove the electricity from his $55 million home.
Tony stated, “Also no stairs. Ramps, and no electricity, which he got angry with me [about] because he wanted me to remove the electricity without him deciding on which alternate source of power he would like to be, quote-unquote ‘off the grid’ or this has to be off the grid to hide from the government.”
The lawsuit alleges that when Tony expressed concerns about the extreme danger of such actions, Kanye threatened him and labelled him as an enemy if he did not comply. Tony ultimately chose not to put himself and others at risk, and as a result, Kanye told him to leave the project.
The lawsuit also claims that the unfinished house was left in shambles with no windows or electricity when Tony left. These allegations raise serious questions about Kanye West’s treatment of his employees and the working conditions at his properties.
The lawsuit filed by Tony Saxon in the Los Angeles County Superior Court accuses Kanye West of multiple labour code violations and disability discrimination. Tony claims that he was forced to work in dangerous conditions and was not provided with proper wages and reimbursements.
It is important to note that these are allegations made by a former employee and have not been proven in court. Kanye West’s spokesperson has been contacted for comment but has not responded at the time of writing.
