“These latest revelations prove that the prime minister appears to be allergic to telling the truth…..,” Angela Rayner censures Johnson.
Boris Johnson is under fire after revelations proved that the prime minister had received over £52,000 from a Tory donor to cover lush refurbishment costs at his Downing Street flat. When the source of funds for the settlement of the expenses was quizzed, No 10 initially insisted that Mr. Johnson had “covered the cost”.
At the outset, the prime minister had received a “bridging loan” of £52,802 to cover the works at his home after being invoiced by the Cabinet Office in June of last year.

Lord Brownlow is said to have “reimbursed in full” the amount which had been provided by the party. This came before Mr. Johnson`s settlement of the expenses incurred by the donor in March this year.
A Tory spokesman said: “As stated, the party provided a short-term bridging loan that was reimbursed to the party in full.”
Labour`s deputy leader Angela Rayner accused the prime minister of making dodgy dealing and stirring the “web of conflicts of interests, secret loans and cover-ups that hang over him like a bad smell.”
In another statement, Ms Rayner said: “The questions hanging over ‘flatgate’ make it even more important that a full investigation into the prime minister’s SleazyJet flights is begun immediately so we get to the bottom of whether any rules and laws were broken, and if a Tory donor has secretly been picking up the tab for the prime minister’s private jet too.”

Meanwhile, Mr Johnson`s own ministerial standards adviser, Lord Geidt admitted that the prime minister had made an unwise decision.
However, he said that Mr Johnson`s failure to make a “more rigorous regard for how this would be funded” did not contravene the ministerial code.
