New York: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived on a four-day visit to America, was given a grand welcome with political honors at the White House on June 22. US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden gave him a warm welcome. On a happy morning, many Indian-Americans present at the White House greeted the Prime Minister by chanting Modi Modi slogans with enthusiasm and joy. While welcoming Prime Minister Modi, US President Dr. Biden said in his speech, Prime Minister Modi, I welcome you again. US-India relations are among the most important relations of the 21st century. The Constitution of both our democracies has the same first word V, The People. We have a shared responsibility as global leaders to build lasting relations between the peoples of our two nations, shared values and solutions to our contemporary challenges.
After the welcome speech of President Biden, Prime Minister Modi gave his response and said that after becoming the Prime Minister, I have visited the White House many times. Today, for the first time, the doors of the White House have been opened to such a large number of people from the Indian-American community. I thank President Biden for that.
The strong strategic partnership between India and the US is a testament to our strong democracy. The Indian community has played an important role in strengthening the relations between the two countries. May the tricolor flag of India and the national flag of America (Stars and Stripes) – both fly to new heights! It was a moment of great joy and pride for every American-Indian present on the occasion. Significantly, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore his customary Indian attire. He gave his speech in Hindi. His speech was simple, emotional and meaningful. The dignified personality of Indian Prime Minister Modi was felt by everyone present on the occasion of the program.
