Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher has described Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer as “really silly” following his remarks about the home crowd in the aftermath of last night’s win against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League.
Cristiano Ronaldo was on target again as Manchester United rallied to upend a 2-goal deficit and turn the game on its head after the visitors’ blistering start.
A fragment of the Old Trafford crowd jeered the players as they made their way down the tunnel but were ultimately instrumental in rallying support for the team to come back from the dead after Mario Pašalić and Merih Demiral gave the visitors an early lead at the Theatre of Dreams.

In an interview with CBS, Solskjaer said the crowd should have “known better” than to get on the players’ backs at half-time as supporters are “better” than that.
“This crowd should never stop believing in these players,” Solskjaer said.
“You do hear a little bit of grumbling. I’ve been here at this club for 18 years, more or less, and that hasn’t happened often. They know they’re better than that.”
Carragher, who said earlier this week that Manchester United will not land any major silverware under Solskjaer, once again slammed the Norwegian for his reaction.
The Liverpool legend described Solskjaer’s interview as “strange” and said the beleaguered manager’s comments were “very silly” as Manchester United prepare for another crunch encounter against Jurgen Klopp’s high-flying Liverpool side on Sunday.
“I thought it was a strange interview, that,” Carragher said.
“The comment he made about the fans was a silly thing to say. The fans I think won them that game in the second half.”
“Man United, coming in at half-time 2-0 down to Atalanta and I don’t think they were that poor but you’re going to get grumblings, people who are unhappy. It’s not just that game, it’s a poor run of games and the performance they had at Leicester. When that ground is rocking, it is difficult to stop.”

“I have been there as a player and it’s difficult to stop, teams get deeper and deeper. The supporters are as important as Cristiano Ronaldo, or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, or the changes he made in the second half.”
“It was a really silly thing to say that the supporters should know better when they played such a huge part in winning them the game.”
