The simplicity of Draupadi Murmoo, who rose from class monitor to the highest post in the country, was striking during the swearing-in ceremony. When he reached Parliament House to take oath for the country’s highest constitutional post, his simplicity touched everyone. Dressed in Santhali sari, white air slippers, he took oath as the 15th President of the country in the Central Chamber of Parliament. The ease of Draupadi Murmu, who has stepped into the largest building in Raisina Hills from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, has not been compromised.
Draupadi Murmu took the oath of office wearing a Santhali saree. Santhali sarees have some dhari work at one end and women of the Santhali community wear them on special occasions. Santhali sarees have a similar design at both ends. On this special occasion, Murmoo also wore a similar type of saree.
Draupadi Murmu, who took oath for the highest post of the country, did not leave the simplicity even at this time. Wearing a white sari with a green and red striped design, white air slippers, he arrived at the central chamber of Parliament. He was administered the oath by the Chief Justice of the country NV Ramana.
For the next five years, Draupadi Murmu will reside in Rashtrapati Bhavan of the country. Even when he was the Governor of Jharkhand, his simplicity was widely discussed. Now the same simplicity of Murmooni will be seen in Rashtrapati Bhavan as well.
