Andhra Pradesh: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has once again increased its pride in the world of space. ISRO launched two Singaporean satellites, TeleOS-2 and LumiLite-4, from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The rocket was launched by NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) under a commercial mission carrying ‘TeleOS-2’ as primary satellite and ‘Lumalite-4’ as co-passenger satellite and both satellites were placed in low Earth orbit.
The 22.5-hour countdown for the launch of two Singapore satellites by the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) began at the Satish Dhawan Space Center here. As part of the mission, the 44.4-metre tall rocket lifted off from the first launch pad carrying the two satellites from the space center located about 135 km from Chennai and later placed both the satellites into the desired orbit.
This time ISRO is using PSLV-C55 rocket in the launch. It has been a reliable rocket of ISRO. This rocket was launched for the first time in September 1993. Since then it has launched 56 satellites. This time the rocket integration has been innovated. This time the integration is done so that it takes less time for assembling and flying. Earlier all the components of PSLV were added through mobile service tower on the launchpad. In a new way, the ISRO rocket’s first and second stages have been added to the PSLV Integration Facility (PIF). It is then brought to the mobile launch pedestal. The third and fourth parts are then added to the first launchpad. This has the advantage that if the first rocket is on the launch pad, it does not take much time to assemble the second rocket. First and second phase is ready in minimum time.
