Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has challenged Donald Trump’s assertion that he could have ended the war in Ukraine within a day if he were still in office.
In an interview with ABC News’ Martha Raddatz, Zelenskyy expressed scepticism about Trump’s claim and questioned his real-life experience in dealing with such a complex conflict.

Zelenskyy stated, “The idea of wanting to end the war is admirable, but it must be based on actual experience.” He pointed out that Ukraine was already engaged in a war during Trump’s presidency, albeit not on a full-scale level. Zelenskyy suggested that Trump may have had the opportunity to address the issue at that time but chose to prioritize other matters.
Referring to the prospect of ending the war at the expense of Ukraine surrendering its territories, Zelenskyy commented, “If ending the war means giving up our territories, then President Biden could have achieved that in just five minutes, but we would not agree to such terms.”

Trump had previously made bold statements about resolving the conflict swiftly. In an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, he claimed, “I would fix that within 24 hours, and if I win [the presidency], before I even take office, I will have that war settled. I am 100% sure.” However, Trump never provided specific details on his proposed approach.
Prior to his election victory in 2016, Trump often emphasized his supposed rapport with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Throughout the duration of the war, he frequently insinuated that the conflict could have been avoided had he remained in power.
