Kevin Costner is currently spending quality time with his children, actively engaging in their lives.
The 68-year-old actor/director had previously made it clear that he would be unavailable for a court date scheduled for July 12. This was because he had a pre-planned trip to British Columbia with his younger children: 13-year-old daughter Grace, and sons Hayes, 14, and Cayden, 16.
According to court documents obtained by SurgeZirc UK, Costner’s legal team stated that this trip had been in the works for months, predating the recent rescheduling of the court date.
Regarding the shared custody arrangement between Costner and his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, the actor’s team has reassured that “the children are teenagers and have the freedom to move between his home and Christine’s once she finds a new residence.”
In addition to his younger children, the Yellowstone star has three adult children – Annie, 39, Lily, 36, and Joe, 35 – from his previous marriage to Cindy Silva. He also has a 26-year-old son named Liam from a previous relationship with Bridget Rooney.
Baumgartner filed for divorce from the acclaimed actor of Dances with Wolves on May 1, 2023, after being married for 18 years.
The subsequent month saw Baumgartner’s request for $248,000 per month in child support for all three children. In her filing, she claimed that this amount was necessary to maintain the children’s accustomed lifestyle.
However, Costner’s legal team has referred to state guidelines and the actor’s financial situation, proposing that a monthly child support amount of $123,620 is appropriate.
“Ensuring that the minor children have more than just the basic necessities does not necessitate providing excessive extravagance that primarily benefits the receiving parent,” asserted Costner’s team in response to Baumgartner’s claim.
