A tragic hit-and-run incident in north London has resulted in the death of a 28-year-old woman and two dogs she was walking, according to the police.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening on the A10 Cambridge Road dual carriageway in Edmonton. Emergency services, including the police, paramedics, and an air ambulance, were dispatched to the scene at around 7.25 pm.
Sadly, the female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver responsible for the accident failed to stop for the police.
The Metropolitan Police revealed on Thursday that a 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He has been released on bail pending further investigations.
Authorities are appealing for information and are particularly interested in speaking with the driver of a red Audi who was in the vicinity of the collision at the time it occurred. The woman’s next of kin have been notified, and they are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Following the crash, the A10 was closed in both directions between the B154 Church Street and Bury Street in Edmonton for approximately 12 hours. Specialist Road Traffic Officers conducted an investigation before reopening the road.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is urging anyone with dash cam footage or who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact them at 020 8597 4874 or via 101, quoting reference CAD 5858/09Jan.
