A man and a woman have been killed while out walking when they were hit by a car in Bearsted, Kent.
The pair were hit by a black BMW X5 on Saturday 20th January 2024 at 1.45pm on Thurnham Lane.
Emergency services, including South East Coast Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene but were unable to save the dogwalkers or their pet, who were pronounced dead. The road, between Pilgrims Way in Thurnham, and the Ware Street in Bearsted, was closed for several hours.
Investigating police have called on any witnesses to the accident to get in touch. A spokesman added the driver remained at the scene and no arrests have been made.

A local said some drivers use the road as a rat run, adding that recent icy conditions turned parts of it into a ‘skidpan’.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: “At around 1.40pm on Saturday 20 January 2024, the driver of a black BMW X5 was involved in a collision with two pedestrians who were walking in Thurnham Lane. Officers attended the scene along with South East Coast Ambulance Service where both pedestrians, a man and a woman, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any other information or dashcam footage prior to, or at the time of the collision, is urged to call Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.”
