FANS of Outland are getting the chance to work on series eight of the hit time travel show.

Opportunities have opened up to work on the final season of the popular Starz drama.

Fans have the chance to land a role on the new Outlander series[/caption]

The new season of Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe‘s hit programme will be filming in Scotland later this year.

And fans who want to get in on the action can apply to land some new jobs in various departments.

Twenty different trainee jobs are on offer at the production base in Cumbernauld to help support the cast for the final time.

Among the jobs going are roles dealing with costume, camera, locations, props and make-up.

While others include working with special effects and set decoration.

The jobs are part of the Outlander Training Programme which, according to its website, “supports diversity and encourages applications from across all sections of the community.”

Bosses have revealed that the trainees will be paid salaries between £558.80 and £635 per week.

However, this will depend on the role and working within a fixed-term placement.

There are no formal qualifications required for the roles, but applicants must be residents of Scotland.

They also have to be over 18 with a basic understanding of the industry.

And some of the roles will require applicants to have a full, clean driver’s license.

The job advert explains that successful applicants will be taken under the wing of “finest technicians and creatives” in film and TV.

And they will also gain experience of working in a real filming environment – which would go a long way for a career in film and TV.

However, candidates must have no more than six months of paid experience in the department they are applying to work in.

Bosses say that applications for the location roles close at 9am on Monday, February 5.

Interviews will then be carried out in the weeks after Monday, February 19.

And successful candidates will then begin working on Monday, March 11.

Anyone looking to find out more information about the roles can do so here.

It comes as Outlander’s prequel is due to start filming in Glasgow.

Filming crews are due to descend on the streets in the city’s west end for Blood of My Blood – sparking a string of road closures.

The spin-off will follow the story of Jamie’s mum Ellen MacKenzie and his dad  Brian Fraser.

So it is unlikely that Sam will actually appear in any scenes of the new series.

It is expected to hit screens after Outlander’s final series next year, meaning it will air sometime around 2025.
