Liz Truss, the UK’s shortest-serving Prime Minister, recently endorsed Donald Trump ahead of the upcoming presidential election in the United States.
At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington DC, Truss expressed her belief that Trump made the West “safer”. This endorsement comes as part of Truss’s comeback tour, following her tenure as Prime Minister, during which she faced criticism for handling the UK economy.
During an interview with Nigel Farage, former UKIP leader and Trump supporter, on GB News, Truss stated, “I feel that Joe Biden needs to be kicked out of the White House.

“I think that is vital for the future of the West, and I have worked in the cabinet under both the Trump presidency as the trade secretary, and Biden when I was foreign secretary. And I tell you, I felt safer for the West when Donald Trump was in power.”

While in office, Trump made controversial decisions such as threatening to leave NATO, withdrawing the US from the Paris Agreement, and exiting the Iran nuclear deal.
Despite these actions, Truss commended Trump for standing up for conservative values and expressing a fondness for the United Kingdom. She also criticized Biden for his tendency to criticize the UK, particularly about the Brexit negotiations and handling the Irish border.
It is worth noting that Truss’s endorsement of Trump seems to overlook her previous criticism of his trade policies.
As the trade secretary in 2020, Truss expressed concerns about an “autarkic Britain First approach,” which alluded to Trump’s “America First” slogan. However, it appears that Trump reciprocated Truss’s admiration, as he spoke highly of her when she first took office in 2022.

At the CPAC conference, Truss was seen sitting with Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, and took the opportunity to criticize the so-called “deep state.”
She expressed her desire to cut taxes and reduce the size of the “administrative state” through her mini-budget but claimed that the economic establishment in Britain hindered her efforts. Truss emphasized the need for change and a stronger approach to overcome bureaucratic obstacles.
Truss’s recent public appearances and her forthcoming book, “Ten Years To Save the West,” indicate her ongoing efforts to engage with the public and promote her ideas for the future.
