In a surprising article for Fox News, Liz Truss has attributed the turmoil unleashed by her mini-budget to the “deep state.” The former Prime Minister expressed her belief that the left has held power for too long in the free world, leading to evident consequences.
Truss pointed out the presence of left-leaning agents in both public and private institutions, referring to them as the administrative state and the deep state. She claimed to have personally witnessed their efforts to undermine her attempts to cut taxes, reduce government size, and restore democratic accountability in Britain.

Liz Truss’s short tenure in office is primarily remembered for her disastrous mini-budget, which resulted in the devaluation of the pound and chaos in the markets. Even the Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, stated that it damaged the UK’s international reputation.
Truss also asserted that the West is “doomed unless conservatives win again,” although it should be noted that the Conservative Party has been in power in the UK since 2010 and has governed for a significant portion of the 20th century.
Truss’s time as Prime Minister set records of its own, as she was ousted by her own Conservative Party after just 45 days in office due to her mini-budget as SurgeZirc UK previously reported.
She was subsequently replaced by another Conservative, Rishi Sunak, who remains Prime Minister to this day. According to opinion polls, many Brits currently desire a change in government after years of turmoil.
While Truss acknowledged the Conservative Party’s tenure in Downing Street, she claimed that Britain is “one of the few countries in the West with conservatives still in power.” However, recent years have seen a swing to the right in European politics, with right-wing parties gaining popularity in countries such as France, Italy, and Sweden.
The former Prime Minister outlined the shared values of conservatives, including a love of liberty, the importance of the family as a foundation for society, national pride, and a distrust of unnecessary state intervention in our lives.
Truss also criticized “wokeism” and its focus on environmentalism and transgender ideology. Despite her years as a government official, she called for an overturning of the “cozy status quo.”
In her article, Truss warned that conservative values are under threat in the United States under the administration of Democrat Joe Biden and the left-wing. She even suggested that the left-wing elite would collaborate with “our enemies in China, Iran, and Russia.”
It is worth noting that Joe Biden’s expected rival in the upcoming presidential election is former president Donald Trump, who has shown sympathy towards Russia’s authoritarian leader, Vladimir Putin.
Truss also took the opportunity to promote her new book, “Ten Years To Save the West,” reflecting on her decade of service in the British government. However, she failed to mention her short-lived tenure as the main resident of 10 Downing Street.
Additionally, she did not reference her involvement in the Popular Conservatism movement, which she has been at the forefront of. It is worth mentioning that Truss’s article was released a day before her appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington DC.
