President Joe Biden recently made a significant gaffe related to Kim Jong-un, further adding to a string of embarrassing moments during his presidency.
While delivering a speech at a campaign fundraiser in California, Biden mistakenly mixed up North and South Korea, attempting to poke fun at former President Donald Trump’s decision to meet with Kim.
During the closed-door function, Biden joked that Trump received “love letters from South Korean President Kim Jong-un.”

This remark was not only inaccurate but also shocking, given Biden’s efforts to establish a positive relationship with the real South Korean President, Yoon Suk-yeol.
In 2022, Biden visited South Korea after Yoon assumed office, and the two leaders met multiple times, including during the White House state dinner in April and a Camp David summit in August.
Biden even invited Yoon on stage to sing “American Pie” by Don McLean and gifted him one of McLean’s guitars.
This recent gaffe is just one example of the numerous blunders and gaffes Biden has made during his presidency. According to official White House records, Biden has made at least 148 public blunders and gaffes in 2024 alone.
These mistakes have been so significant that the White House communications staff had to edit official transcripts of 118 statements, speeches, or comments made between January 1 and April 24 to align Biden’s words with his intended policy stances.
These frequent slip-ups raise concerns about Biden’s ability to effectively communicate and represent the United States on the global stage. Such mistakes not only undermine his credibility but also create opportunities for his opponents to criticize and question his leadership.
Former President Donald Trump wasted no time seizing on Biden’s gaffe to criticize his political rival.
Speaking before a crowd of tens of thousands at the Jersey Shore, Trump referred to President Joe Biden as a “total moron” and repeatedly claimed that the legal cases against him were politically motivated and timed to hinder his campaign efforts.
Trump’s remarks reflected his belief that Biden’s intelligence and competence are lacking, and he emphasized that he now feels free to speak more candidly about his rival.
