Former President Donald Trump expressed his willingness to go to jail for the sake of the Constitution, following his court appearance in the NY v. Trump trial. Trump’s comments came after the third week of the trial concluded on Friday.
During a press conference, Trump criticized those involved in the prosecution, stating, “If anything’s mentioned against certain people, and you know who they are, certain people, anything’s even mentioned, he wants to put me in jail.”
The former president displayed various media articles about the trial to support his claims.

Regarding Judge Juan Merchan, Trump accused him of acting unconstitutionally, saying, “What he’s doing is so unconstitutional. There’s never been anything like it.” Despite the defense’s request, Trump specifically criticized Merchan for not imposing a gag order on Michael Cohen.
He expressed his frustration, stating, “There is no gag order on Michael Cohen. What the judge did was amazing. Actually, it was amazing. Everybody can say… whatever they want, but I’m not allowed to say anything about anybody. It’s a disgrace.”
In addition to his comments on the trial, Trump took aim at President Biden, accusing him of lying about the inflation rate since taking office. He called the happenings in the Manhattan courtroom a “very dark day” for New York City, New York State, and the nation as a whole.
Despite his concerns, Trump remained optimistic, stating, “The good news is that people understand that our poll numbers are the highest they’ve ever been.” He called for the case to be thrown out, referring to those targeting him and Judge Merchan as “corrupt thugs.”
