President-elect Donald Trump has shared a touching update on the health of King Charles III and Kate Middleton following their respective cancer treatments, following a recent meeting with Prince William at the U.K. Ambassador’s Residence in Paris.
Trump revealed that during their 30-minute conversation, he asked Prince William about the well-being of his wife, Kate, and father, King Charles. “I asked him about his wife and he said she’s doing well.
And I asked him about his father and his father is fighting very hard, and he loves his father and he loves his wife,” Trump told the New York Post on December 8. “So it was sad.”

The 78-year-old former President shared that the conversation with the 42-year-old Prince was “great,” and added that William was in high spirits despite the challenges his family had faced.

“He’s a good-looking guy. He looked really, very handsome last night,” Trump said, commenting on William’s appearance during their time at the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral. “Some people look better in person? He looked great. He looked really nice, and I told him that.”
Trump also praised William’s leadership, saying, “Good man, this one. He is doing a fantastic job.”
Earlier this year, both Kate and Charles revealed their cancer diagnoses. King Charles, 78, announced in February that he had been undergoing treatment after a routine prostate exam.
Kate, 42, followed suit in March, revealing her own diagnosis. Both have successfully completed their treatments, though they had to step back from public duties for a period.
In their absence, William took on their royal responsibilities, recently opening up about the emotional toll the year had taken on his family.
“It’s been dreadful,” he told reporters in Cape Town on November 7. “It’s probably been the hardest year of my life. Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.”
William continued, “I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
Kate and Charles have made gradual returns to the public eye. On December 6, Kate and William, alongside their three children, attended the Princess of Wales’ fourth annual Christmas carol service—marking their first public outing as a family of five since June.
With both Kate and Charles slowly recovering and returning to royal duties, the family is gradually moving past a challenging year, with William standing strong at the helm.
