In live event production, success is rarely noticed—only failure is. When a microphone cuts out at a corporate conference, or an acoustic echo drowns out the lead vocals in a house of worship, the spell is instantly broken.
In the United Kingdom, where demand for hybrid, broadcast-quality live events is surging, a critical bottleneck has emerged: a severe shortage of properly trained, multi-skilled audio-visual (AV) technicians and sound engineers.
Addressing this industry-wide deficit is London-based FKLEF Productions Limited, an AV and event technical production company that has placed practitioner-led education at the centre of its business model.
Through specialised initiatives like Sound4Church and the upcoming London Summer Sound Engineering Bootcamp, the company is shifting live sound training away from trial-and-error volunteerism towards rigorous, professional standards.
Across the UK, live production standards are rapidly evolving. Hybrid events, real-time streaming, and immersive visual environments are now baseline expectations for audiences in corporate auditoriums and houses of worship alike.
Yet, while event technology has advanced exponentially, workforce training has lagged behind.
The gap is particularly acute within faith communities and grassroots event spaces. The majority of church AV teams are operated by well-meaning volunteers who are largely self-taught, under-resourced, and lack access to structured, practical mentorship.

“Most volunteers are thrown behind complex digital consoles with zero formal preparation. We aren’t just teaching people which buttons to press; we are teaching them system architecture, acoustics, and signal flow so they can execute flawless live experiences consistently.”
To bridge the gap between technical vision and execution, FKLEF Productions launched Sound4Church, a specialised training initiative designed to equip church sound engineers, AV volunteers, and production teams globally.
The programme delivers live webinars, technical masterclasses, and on-site training sessions tailored directly to venue setups.
To date, Sound4Church has reached production personnel across more than 40 countries and served over 100 churches, featuring guest sessions from prominent global industry figures, including Marco Guarino, Audio Systems Engineer at MGProATL, and Keithan Carroll, Director of Production at Transformation Church.
Building on this momentum, the company’s flagship educational event—the London Summer Sound Engineering Bootcamp—provides an intensive, full-day hands-on experience for developing sound engineers and technicians.
The curriculum covers everything from front-of-house (FOH) mixing and in-ear monitor (IEM) management to audio networking and live session multi-track recording.
