Sheppey united FC have made history after qualifying for the 1st Round of the FA Cup for the first time.
The team celebrated after a penalty shoot-out earned them a hard fought victory over Billericay on Tuesday night.
Striker Dan Bradshaw gave The Ites another first-half lead in front of one of their largest crowds in their history before Bradley Stevenson equalised for the Isthmian Premier outfit. Billericay then had Ben Wells sent off in extra-time and goalkeeper Aiden Prall came up with the vital spot-kick save as Sheppey won 5-4.
As well as Sheppey earning £9,375 for the victory, which will go a long way to keeping the club financially safe, they have a reward of playing against League Two side Walsall.
There is not long for the side to recover, as the FA Cup first round matches are scheduled for the weekend of 4th November 2023.
