Three HGV drivers were given a surprise awakening yesterday after they thought it was acceptable to take their breaks on the exit slip road at Junction 10 on the M20.
The officers in this police car did not and asked the drivers to remove their HGVs immediately. The drivers were also issued with GFPNs (Graduated Fixed Penalty Fines). Each graduated offence band carries a different financial penalty.
Fellow motorists have also complained about HGVs also parking on the slip road at Junction 11 and 11a too.
It raises an interesting question as to whether the nearest truck stop was already full or if these drivers drive as far as time would allow and are then looking to save money on parking fees, by using a ‘free’ slip road or hard shoulder.
