“The President and Dr. Biden will also visit Vatican City and have an audience with His Holiness Pope Francis on October 29.
“They will discuss working together on efforts grounded in respect for fundamental human dignity, including ending the COVID-19 pandemic, tackling the climate crisis, and caring for the poor.
“From Rome, President Biden will travel to Glasgow, United Kingdom from November 1-2 to participate in the World Leader Summit at the start of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26).”
Biden’s visit to the UK will come on the heels of a major breakthrough in negotiations after weeks of political face-off between the European Union and the UK on certain aspects of the highly contentious Northern Ireland Protocol.
The European Commission vice president, Maros Sefcovic on Wednesday had outlined a new proposal to slash 80 percent of regulatory checks and significantly cut customs processes on the movement of goods between Britain and the island of Ireland.
Under the original stipulations of the Protocol, the European Court of Justice would act as the final arbitrator in the eventuality of any trade disagreements between both parties.
Britain has vehemently kicked against that provision, and have mooted an independent arbitration process as a much more acceptable option, but the EU has refused to concede to that demand.
Biden, who, like his brother in arms and former US President, Barack Obama, shares little love for Brexit, has been critical over Britain’s resistance to the current Protocol.

Recently, Mr Biden’s National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan had insisted the mechanism is “critical to ensuring that the spirit, promise and future of the Good Friday agreement is protected”.
The disagreement over the Protocol seems to have put the kibosh on a potentially lucrative trade deal between the two global heavyweights.
Negotiations seem to have crumbled since Biden assumed Presidency after his predecessor, Donald Trump had talked up extremely boisterous relations between the UK and the US.
