Preparations have been going on for almost two years. The proposal was named as Tour of Duty
New Delhi, Dt
A new way of recruiting soldiers in the Armed Forces may begin soon. The proposal has been dubbed the Tour of Duty. It will be launched soon with the intention of providing employment to the youth on a low budget. Preparations have been going on for almost two years.
Under the campaign, officers and soldiers will be recruited into the armed forces on a fixed short-term contract at low cost. The tenure under it can be around three years. Let me tell you that the Corona epidemic has led to a sharp decline in the recruitment of the Armed Forces in the last two years. According to official records, there are currently 1,6,8 vacancies in the Army, Air Force and Navy. Recruitment under the ‘Tour of Duty’ will provide jobs to the youth and will also reduce government expenditure. The proposal is expected to get the green light from the top leadership. A briefing on ‘Tour of Duty’ has been given at the Ministry of Defense from this week. The plan was introduced in 2020 by Army Chief General MM Narwane. The shape and scope of the top levels of government will be discussed recently. The final outline of the plan has not yet been finalized. However, the decision is expected to change the concept of permanent recruitment in the armed forces. In the new process, most of the soldiers will be released from duty at the end of three years. They will be assisted by the armed forces for further employment opportunities. So on the other hand the best recruits can get a chance to continue their service if there is space.
