According to the customs department, drug smuggling was reported after X-ray scanning of drug consignments, the government has launched a campaign to curb the drug trade.
Customs officials recovered about Rs. 105 kg of heroin worth Rs 500 crore seized Which was packed with a consignment of mulathi (licorice) imported from Afghanistan by a Delhi based importer. According to the customs department, drug smuggling was reported after X-ray scanning of the drug consignment. The consignment of wooden logs was suspected to have some irregular spots after which, the customs personnel opened the bag and found that some of the bags contained small cylindrical wooden logs which were not mullet. According to the customs department, the total weight of the wooden logs was 4 kg. In which 104 kilograms of heroin worth about Rs 500 crore has been found in the international market. The consignment of heroin came to India from Afghanistan via Pakistan. It may be mentioned that the Punjab government has launched a major campaign to ban drugs. However, from time to time many young people are dying from drug overdoses. Dried fruits, fresh fruits and herbs come from Afghanistan, especially in the India Anzro balcony. Earlier, in June 2016, customs officials seized the largest drug smuggling in India from the balcony of goods coming from Afghanistan. In which 4.5 kg of heroin was seized. Earlier, in June 2016, customs officials seized 4.5 kg of heroin in the largest seizure in India from Enzro Attari imported from Afghanistan. Sources said that a Delhi-based importer had imported a total of 40 bags of liquor from Mazar-e-Sharif, an Afghan-based trader, which was brought to Ainzro, Attari by a Caber-based logistics and freight transport company. The liquor consignment with heroin was unloaded at the cargo terminal at Enzro Attari on April 4. Customs officials are investigating the clearing agency which was supposed to return the consignment and send it to Delhi.
