The Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the issue of children going to school at an early age. The Supreme Court has taken a stern stance on the concerns of parents regarding their children’s schooling. The Supreme Court said that children should be sent to school at a very young age in the interest of their mental health. Parents want their children to start school as soon as they are two years old, but this will have a detrimental effect on their health. A bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and MM Sundaresh commented on the matter. The bench was hearing the parents’ appeal challenging the six-year minimum age limit for admission in standard 1 in Kendriya Vidyalaya for the next academic session. The parents had challenged the April 11 order of the Delhi High Court. It was claimed that the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan had abruptly changed the admission criteria four days before the commencement of the admission process in March 207. The previous measure was five years. The court further stated that during the hearing, a study was conducted on what is the appropriate age for sending children to school. Do not force children to go to school, as this can have a profound effect on their health. The court told the lawyer appearing on behalf of the parents, the problem is that every parent feels that their child is a genius who can sit in school at any age. Subsequently, during the hearing, the counsel appearing for the Central Government said that 21 Rayos have implemented the 8-plus system for first class under NEP. Which came in 2020 and this policy was not challenged. The court then upheld the Delhi High Court’s order and dismissed the appeal. In its April 11 order in the same case, the High Court had rejected the parents’ plea that they should not be denied admission in the school. The education imparted in the early years builds the other abilities of the child. This is a good thing, but others who push. It is not for the health of the children.
