Violence is currently reported in two cities in Rajasthan. Amid ongoing violence in Jodhpur, a scuffle broke out between the two groups during Eid celebrations in Nagaur. According to media reports, a close altercation took place between two groups of Muslims during Eid celebrations in the Kidwai area of Nagaur which later escalated into a full-blown scuffle and the whole affair erupted. People from both groups hurled stones at each other. Late night controversy over flag-loudspeakers in Jodhpur, Rajasthan has escalated into violent violence. Due to this, curfew has been imposed in 10 police station areas of Jodhpur till May 7. The Rajasthan government has taken action after the violence. CM Gehlot has called a high-level meeting. The meeting was attended by DGP and other officials. The Jalori Gate area, which is a Muslim-majority area, had an Eid flag the night before. It also had a loudspeaker. Some people affiliated with the Hindu organization reached there and hoisted the flag. Hindu organizations say they hoisted a saffron flag there on the day of Parashuram Jayanti. Videos of the flag being unfurled soon went viral, followed by the Muslim community at the intersection and the stoning. Somehow the matter came to a head at night. But then in the morning things got worse. Here the saffron flag near the statue of freedom fighter Bal Mukund Bisa catches the eye of the Muslim community as they gather for morning prayers. Outraged by the incident, members of the Muslim community then started pelting stones and setting fire. Police fired tear gas canisters from Jalori Gate to Idgah Road. A large number of Jabbatas were deployed. People from both sides came together. Police evacuated the entire area late at night. Internet service in the district and city has been shut down following the clashes. In his order, Divisional Commissioner Himanshu Gupta said that in view of the law and order situation in the district, internet services have been suspended from 1 pm on May 9. Meanwhile, there was a dispute with media persons. Journalists were also attacked. A journalist was also injured. Journalists staged a sit-in on the road in protest. There was a controversy over the installation of flags and loudspeakers at Jalori Gate. Police again fired tear gas. Tensions remain high at the venue. Police have deployed RAC. Also DCP East and West are in place.
