A high-level meeting was held at the Home Ministry today to review the security arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra. This annual pilgrimage is going to start on June 30 after a gap of two years. The meeting was attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary AK Bhalla, CRPF DG Kuldeep Singh, DG BRO Lieutenant General Rajiv Chaudhary and other BSF and Home Ministry officials. The meeting was also attended by Chief of Intelligence Bureau Arvind Kumar and DGP of Jammu and Kashmir Dilbag Singh. A large number of people come from all over the country to take part in the Amarnath Yatra. During the Amarnath Yatra, which runs from June 30 to August 11, a number of major decisions may be taken to curb incidents of targeting civilians and terrorist activities. However, additional security forces will be deployed for the safety of the pilgrims. Along with this security related arrangements will also be made. For this, radio frequency identification, drone, anti-drone technology will be used. CCTV cameras will also be installed. According to reports, Amit Shah called a review meeting. The security arrangements for Amarnath’s visit were reviewed. There was also some discussion in the wake of the recent worrying developments in the Kashmir Valley. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Central Government Secretary and officials of Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force and NIA. What is special is that Manoj Sinha had gone to Delhi even before this meeting. He also met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
The security situation was the biggest issue at the meeting, according to reports. Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhatt was recently killed in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Bhatt was working in the tehsil office at Chadura. Apart from this, a bus full of devotees heading to Katra exploded on Thursday, killing eight people. While 20 were injured. It was suspected that the bus was hit by a sticky bomb.
