Delhi Police has taken action in the matter of spreading provocative speeches and hate messages on social media. The IFSO unit of Delhi Police has registered an FIR against Asaduddin Owaisi and Swami Yati Narasimhanand for giving provocative speeches. Earlier, the unit had also registered an FIR against Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal.
According to police sources, Delhi Police will continue cracking down on those who spoil the atmosphere with hate speech. Cases have been registered against AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and Swami Yati Narasimhanand after a tough stance against nine people, including Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal. He has been charged under other sections including spreading hate messages through social media, spreading false rumors and disturbing religious harmony. Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi Police said it had registered a case against some people. It includes people who are allegedly spreading hate messages and inciting various groups to create conditions that could harm peace and order. IFSO Police Commissioner KPS Malhotra also said that FIRs have been registered against people of different religions. A few days ago, Nupur Sharma made a controversial statement about Prophet Mohammad during a TV debate. Following his statement, several people made provocative statements on social media following which the Delhi Police has taken action. Nupur Sharma has been suspended from the BJP. Also, Naveen Kumar Jindal has been expelled from the party for writing a controversial tweet. Nupur Sharma has lodged a complaint at the Delhi Police Station after receiving death threats for her statement. Delhi Police has registered a case and provided security to Nupur Sharma.
