Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, is set to receive a prestigious honour in the world of aviation. He will be crowned a “living legend” alongside esteemed figures like Buzz Aldrin and James Lovell at the Living Legends of Aviation ceremony.
Hosted by Hollywood actor John Travolta, the event will take place on January 19 in Beverly Hills, California.
Harry’s induction into the Living Legends of Aviation is in recognition of his significant contributions to aviation and aerospace. As a former Apache helicopter pilot, he served in Afghanistan from 2012 to 2013, undertaking both training and combat missions. His bravery and skill saved the lives of Allied forces and countless civilians.
The event’s website describes Harry as a “British Army veteran and pilot with ten years of military service.” He flew training missions in the US, UK, and Australia, accumulating approximately 220 flying hours. This achievement led to him being awarded his Flying Wings in 2010 after completing an intensive Army Pilot Course at the Army Aviation Centre.
Joining the ranks of aviation and aerospace “legends,” Harry will stand alongside luminaries such as Jeff Bezos, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman, Elon Musk, and Saudi Prince Sultan bin Salman Al Saud. This year’s inductees also include US Navy pilot Fred George and former world speed record holder Steve Hinton.
While Harry’s aviation prowess is being celebrated, recent reports suggest that he has been excluded from a guide on Sandhurst graduates. The book, focused on 200 high-profile alumni, features a foreword by Prince William and includes singer James Blunt.

However, Sandhurst clarified that the guide aims to highlight the breadth of accomplishments across graduates rather than focusing solely on the most well-known individuals.
Prince Harry’s induction as a “living legend” of aviation is a testament to his remarkable military service and dedication to the field. His bravery and skill have left an indelible mark on the world of aviation, and this honour is well-deserved.
