A white van has crashed into the front of ‘Whites of Kent’ shop on Whistable High Street.
The serious incident took place on Sunday evening (4th February 2024) at around 10pm. Thankfully no-one was hurt in the incident, which could have been much worse had it been a busy afternoon.
Police Officers attending the scene discovered the van embedded in the front of the clothes and homeware shop, which has suffered extensive damage.
A Ford car parked on the opposite site of the road appeared to have also been struck during the incident, with damage to its front passenger side. It is thought that the white van collided with the car before veering off into the shop.
There are unconfirmed reports that the driver of the white van was over the drink-drive limit.
There is now concern amongst locals that the 1920’s traditional shopfront will now be replaced with something more modern, changing the look of the High Street forever.
