Voting held for the election of the President of the country: 730 out of 736 MPs voted, 6 MPs did not exercise their right to vote, cross voting at many places.
New Delhi, dated 18
The country is going to get a new president on July 21. Voting in the presidential election has been completed today. Voting started at 10 am and ended at 5 pm. Meanwhile, 730 out of 736 MPs have cast their vote. The voting of MPs has been 99.18 percent. So 6 MPs did not exercise their right to vote. It is to be noted that in the presidential election, there is a clash between NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu and joint opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha. But seeing the support, Draupadi Murmu's victory is being considered certain. The result of the presidential election will be announced on July 21. The new President will take oath on July 25. In the presidential election, the first cross voting took place at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Kutiana MLA Kandhal Jadeja has been seen supporting the BJP. So the hope of victory of Draupadi Murmu has become strong. Kandhal Jadeja himself has accepted cross voting. He has made this announcement ignoring the order of NCP. While the NCPA is an ally of the Congress, Kandhel Jadeja's cross-voting raises several questions. Bhojipura MLA of SP Bareilly in UP Shahzil Islam has cross-voted in the presidential election. He has voted for NDA candidate Draupadi Murmoo. Congress MLA from Odisha Mohammad Mukim has claimed that he has voted for NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu. AIUDF MLA Karimuddin Barbhuiya has claimed that Congress MLAs have cross-voted in Assam.
