Supreme Court hears bulldozer proceedings in the country: MCD bulldozers no longer operate against illegal assets and encroachments

The Supreme Court has stayed the proceedings of the MCD in Jahangirpuri. The court has ordered to maintain the status quo on the anti-encroachment drive by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation in Jahangirpuri. The Supreme Court will hear the case on Thursday. Two petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court. UP, MP and other parts of the country have filed petitions against the bulldozer proceedings and another petition has been filed against the MCD proceedings in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. After the proceedings lasted for an hour, the Supreme Court stayed it. Following the Supreme Court order, MCD’s bulldozer will no longer run against illegal properties and encroachments. The court has ordered to maintain the status quo in Jahangirpuri. The matter will now be heard by the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Following the apex court order, Raja Iqbal Singh, mayor of North MCD, said that the apex court order would be complied with and if there was an order to remove the bulldozer, it would be complied with immediately.
Violence broke out on Hanuman Jayanti in Jahangirpuri. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation had decided to take action against illegal encroachment at the site of the violence. Under this, bulldozers were to be operated on April 20 and 21. Under this, on Wednesday, the officials of the corporation had started proceedings against the encroachment in Jahangirpuri. But the proceedings have been stayed by the Supreme Court.
