On Tuesday, Kate Middleton wore a stunning tiara to Buckingham Palace for a very special occasion: King Charles’ first state banquet as monarch.
The banquet was held in honor of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s state visit, as well as Charles’ first state visit as sovereign. The trip was originally planned before Queen Elizabeth II died in September at the age of 96.

According to Lauren Kiehna, the writer and editor behind The Court Jeweller, the Princess of Wales wore the Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot tiara with earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana.
Kiehna also noted that Kate wore the tiara with an equally stunning dress, complete with bejewelled shoulders, by Jenny Packham, one of her favorite go-to designers. For the glamorous occasion, Prince William wore a white tie.
Earlier in the day, Ramaphosa was greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales at the Corinthia Hotel to begin his two-day visit.
The group then proceeded to Horse Guards Parade for a welcome ceremony, where they met Charles and Camilla before moving on to other engagements.
The Prince and Princess of Wales will be making their own trip across the pond next week, to Boston, Massachusetts, for William’s second annual Earthshot Prize award ceremony.
