It is understood that almost all possible hiccups have already been cleared. Therefore, a coalition agreement between the SPD and the Greens should be finalised by the end of November.
Accordingly, the new Federal Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, should then be announced in the week beginning on December 6.
Scholz had been touted as the next Chancellor after his Social Democratic Party defeated Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) for the majority seats in parliament during September 26th federal election.
The SDP won 25.7% of the vote, narrowly beating the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the centrist-right, conservative party of Chancellor Angela Merkel, which took 24.1%, the Federal Returning Officer said.
The Greens federal manager Michael Kellner believes his camp is optimistic about coalition talks. He described it as evident that Scholz will be elected Chancellor as early as the week commencing December 6.
