Former US President, Bill Clinton is currently receiving treatment at a hospital after being struck down with “sepsis.
Bill, 75, was admitted to the intensive care unit at the University of California Irvine Medical Center on Tuesday.
His wife, a former presidential candidate was pictured on Thursday night arriving at the hospital as her husband spent his third day under intensive care.
Doctors have dismissed claims that the former president’s condition is as dire as being rumoured, insisting that the decision to put him in ICU was mainly to give him privacy.
His spokesperson has also stated that he is recovering from the blood infection and is in “good spirits.”
Clinton checked himself into Irvine Medical Center after feeling fatigued and was diagnosed with an infection of the bloodstream that doctors say is a result of a urinary tract infection.
Alpesh Amin and Lisa Bardack, who are his personal physicians said he was “admitted to the hospital for close monitoring and administered IV antibiotics and fluids.”
“He remains at the hospital for continuous monitoring,’ they said in a statement. ‘After two days of treatment, his white blood cell count is trending down and he is responding to antibiotics well.”
They added: “We hope to have him go home soon.”
Bill Clinton, who served as President as a Democrat between 1993-2001 has battled a number of ailments in the past, notably a quadruple bypass surgery in 2004, and a 2010 procedure to open a blocked artery in his heart with two stents.
However, his current admission is unrelated to his protracted heart issues.
